Through this type of prompt, a student will see a physical step-by-step outline of how you want them to complete a requested task. This is the most restrictive type of prompt that allows students who need full assistance to complete a task or directive. It is a full hand-over-hand support prompt. Full physical prompt or what I like to call hand over hand support.įull physical prompting is designed for students who need maximum support when completing an activity or task. But when you are trying to teach a new skill it is so important that we guide and foster independence instead of providing max support. Providing too much prompting and support will only enable them to do less. We need to see just how much our students can do on their own. When you are working through a prompting hierarchy, always move from least restrictive to most restrictive when starting. Your students best chance of success for anything is going to include all team members being on the same page.
